Walk with the Eland
At 8.00 am, you will be collected at Day Activity Center or Royal
Livingstone and take a leisurely drive, arriving at Mabula Game Farm
at approximately 08.45 am.
Upon arrival at Mabula's Lodge, you will be welcomed, served tea or
coffee and introduced to our staff. The domesticated herd of eland
will be brought to the front of the lodge; you will be "introduced"
to them and briefed on our safety measures and advice.
At 9.15am, accompanied by our trained guides, you will walk off into
the bush with the eland herd as they go out browsing. Our guides are
selected individuals whom have grown up on the farm and have an
intimate knowledge of every aspect of the land. Apart from the complete
introduction you will receive regarding our Eland domestication project,
they will share their knowledge of the indigenous plants, animals and
even traditional herbal remedies with you throughout your walk.
You will arrive back at the lodge from your walk at approximately
10.45am, where after you can take the time to relax, have a swim and
refreshments.
At 11.15am, you will depart from the Game Farm and arrive back at your
Hotel at 12.00pm.
Eland Encounter / Night Drive
At 4.30 pm, you will be collected at Day Activity Center or Royal
Livingstone and take a leisurely drive, arriving at Mabula Game
Farm at approximately 05.15 pm.
Upon arrival at Mabula’s Lodge, you will be welcomed, served
refreshments of your choice and introduced to our staff. The
domesticated herd of eland will be browsing in front of the lodge
so that you can watch and interact with them as the sun sets.
A buffet dinner will then be served at around 6.15pm which will
include a variety of salads, a venison dish as well as chicken
and/or pork – all meat served is “home-grown” and processed on the
farm and freshly prepared for you.
At 7.15pm, you will be taken on a night drive around the game farm
where you have the opportunity to see not only antelope but elusive
animals like antbears, different cats and bush babies that are
solely nocturnal. You’ll also have the amazing experience of seeing
the stars so clearly that they bear down on you as if they were a
blanket.
At approximately 8.45pm, you will arrive back at the main lodge and
depart from the Game Farm arriving back at your Hotel by 9.30pm.
